So, not sure if this is really what you had in mind, the ficlet kinda took on a life of it's own. Angst and character death warnings.

----------

You have thirty minutes to save a Robin, Batman.

Bruce kicks open the door to the warehouse, rushing inside, Nightwing at his heels. He scans the area, finds a scrap of yellow sticking out from behind some crates. He ran forward, finding Damian - Robin - bound and gagged, limp and unresponsive behind them. He grabbed up his son and ran, knowing there wasn't much time. He'd seen the timer on the bomb on the way in, less than twenty seconds now. Not enough time to disarm the Cypher's bomb.

The three of them were barely clear of the doorway when the warehouse went up. Just like Ethiopia, he thought dazedly. Only this time, he had his son. Picking Damian up, he and Nightwing headed to the Batmobile.

He didn't look back, didn't see a scrap of black cape fluttering to the ground among the debris, nor the slow roll of a gold disc with a black bird profile on it.

Alfred had just finished inserting an IV line into Damian's hand when another message came in. Well, Batman, I can see who your favorite Robin, is. Didn't even bother to look for the second one, did you? I guess he's as red as his namesake, now.

Dick made a low noise as an image appeared on the screen. The burned corpse of Tim, Red Robin, lay in the ruins of the warehouse, bound and gagged like Damian had been.

"Tim," Bruce whispered with horror.

Dick turned and headed for the Batmobile. "I'm getting him back," he said. "Stay with Damian." There was anger underneath his words. Anger at both of them for not truly thinking about the Cypher's message. Not 'save Robin'. 'Save a Robin.'

And he had. At the expense of another one.

Kon stared at the computer displays. Everything the Titans and the Justice League had on Cypher was up on the screen. Including his real name. Ian Bomir. Not that it did them much good to know the Cypher's name. He covered his tracks too well. Though his metaphorical fingerprints were all over the world. The attacks on Batman, Inc, the attacks on the Justice League and the Titans, all carefully planned. He studied his opponents, playing with them, using their weaknesses against them as he stole things out from under their noses. Batman was still trying to figure out the pattern behind the thefts.

Only two items didn't fit the pattern, in Kon's opinion. Cypher's plans had minimal civilian casualties. It made it harder to declare him a villain, in a way. The public denounced his thefts and attacks, but at the same time were grateful he didn't cause more damage. But he'd been responsible for the deaths of two people so far, with malice aforethought. Captain Boomerang, killed in an elaborate cat and mouse game that resulted in him killing himself with his own boomerang, and Red Robin, killed in an explosion where Batman only had time to save one person, and that had been Robin - Damian.
